At Vecchia Osteria Seseglio we know how to organize your wedding down to the smallest detail. From the choice of each dish to the wedding cake, our Staff will advise the bride and groom on the best solutions for the happiest day of their lives. The large garden and outdoor terrace are perfect for cocktails and cutting the cake during receptions held in the summer months.Our location, just 10 minutes from Lake Lugano and 10 minutes from Lake Como, makes us easy to reach and an excellent meeting point for your guests.
We are also equipped with a play area for children to ensure all our guests can relax and enjoy themselves to the full.
We can also provide for the erection of marquees and awnings.

On request our banqueting service will be there to assist you in Ticino’s most enchanting locations or in your own home.

The chef

AMBROGIO STEFANETTI

Chef Ambrogio Stefanetti was born in Como province in 1967 and trained as a professional chef and sommelier. He took over running the Vecchia Osteria Seseglio in the spring of 2007.

Two encounters were particularly critical for Chef Ambrogio’s training – that with Rocco Montereale, who passed on his passion and knowledge about wine pairings, and that with Martin Dalsass, chef of the Michelin starred restaurant Sant’Abbondio in Sorengo.

In 2010 he was honoured with the title “Ticino Cook of the Year” by the Gault Millau Guide, which awarded him 15/20 points.

THE CULINARY ART

His love for the culinary art began in his grandmother’s kitchen, and he draws inspiration from the scents of the old village courtyards where he lived as a child. His cuisine is classic Mediterranean, but with inspired reinterpretations and exotic influences. Always faithful to the changing seasons, quality and respect for the produce he uses in his recipes, Chef Ambrogio reserves a special place for traditional Lombardy-Ticino dishes.

Many local products can be tasted and enjoyed at Vecchia Osteria Seseglio, such as mini cheese portions and Muggio Valley Zincarlin, used as a delicious filling for exclusively handmade ravioli. Bruzella Watermill stone-ground polenta, Alpine cheeses with “Pan Tramvai” (raisin bread), artisanal honey and lake fish are also an important part of our menus, as well as a selection of Ticino wines from our cellar of course.

THE HOST’S ROOM

Favoured by informal diners, it is the first room as you come in the main entrance. Ticino terracotta floors, a fireplace and old tables give it a homely atmosphere. A favourite with families, it leads onto the garden and play area.

THE LITTLE MEMORY ROOM

Since the early days of the Vecchia Osteria, this dining room with the recessed fireplace typical of those times has often been remembered with pleasure by our people. It is said it welcomed famous personalities, from the distinguished General Guisan to various federal councillors, and it is whispered, even renowned American actor, John Wayne.

BANQUETING ROOM

On the first floor, connecting rooms with 20 – 30 and 40 covers respectively, ideal for ceremonies for up to 100 guests. A room with fireplace, Ticino terracotta floors and wood beam ceilings , a second similar to the first but without a fireplace, and a third, the luminous “hayloft” overlooking the old farmyard.

Two large rooms, with their own bathroom, kitchenette and flat screen TV, have been furnished with care and offer all the facilities of a mini-flat with the warm atmosphere of a country house.
The double rooms, with a sitting area and kitchenette, are equipped with everything needed to make a cup of tea or coffee at any time of day. Guests can also make use of the garden or the little “grotto” to enjoy a pleasant, relaxing break.
